R eaching the peak of success for some K-Pop Idols is not easy. Some have
experienced twists and turns before they have paved their way to
stardom. Like the other artists, they also have gone to auditions ,
got recruited and became trainees of certain agencies. However, it seems
that their aspirations to debut in a particular group does not seem
to get fulfilled. Know which seven K-Pop male idols will surprise you
when you will discover that they had training sessions with other groups
before they debuted with their current groups.
In 2006, Jang Hyunseung joined Big Bang Documentary which is a survival show created to find members for YG's boy group Big Bang. Unfortunately, he lost his spot to Seungri. However, he eventually made his debut as a member of BEAST.
Ahn Jaehyo was originally a trainee for the group BEAST. However, he had to leave since he needed to have a knee surgery, which was caused by a choreography practice. With the help and encouragement of Lee Joon (former member of MBLAQ), he decided to try again and he became a trainee for Block B. In an interview he stated that he was the one who urged Junhyung to join Cube Entertainment and Lee Joon to join J. Tune Camp.
In 2007, Yoon Doojoon was part of Mnet's reality show called Hot
Blooded Men . It was a documentary-reality kind of program which
aims to search for members for JYP Entertainment's upcoming male idol which will be called as 2AM and 2PM. But unfortunately, he got eliminated off. However, this gave him a chance to debut as a member of BEAST.
Lee Minhyuk (B-Bomb) was actually a Woolim Entertainment trainee. He was also one of the twelve trainees who were training for the company's very first male group later on called Infinite.
Shin Yoon Cheol (Nakta) was one of the 10 trainees who took part in Jellyfish Entertainment's Idol survival program, MyDol. It was broadcasted on Mnet as reality show which aims to search for members for the entertainment's very first idol group later on called VIXX.
Lee Minwoo (TK) was actually set to debut as a member of BtoB since he was one of the casts of JTBC's I Live in Cheongdamdong (Ep.11 BtoB cut). However, he suffered from an illness which triggered his ears, Cube Entertainment then replaced him with Peniel.
Song Minho (Mino) was one of trainees intended for the male group Block B but he left the group before debut for personal reasons. In 2011, he debuted as a rapper for the ballad group BoM
under Y2Y Contents Company however the group disbanded two years
later. In 2013 he was casted in YG's Who is Next "WIN" and his team
won.
